Project Overview

Water Solutions is a strategic initiative established by Murray Irrigation Limited (MIL) designed to maintain the commercial sustainability of the business. Water Solutions uses an inventory finance facility from a major international agribusiness financier to:

• Acquire and hold water entitlements,

• Commercialise water within the MIL footprint, ensuring water remains available for use in the region, and

• Support on‑farm delivery and productive use by keeping water within the footprint

Method and Approach

 Confluence was integral to standing up the strategic initiative, including:

• Developed and refined the initiatives structure and business case,

• Conducted MIL board workshops and guided due consideration and approval

• Structured risk management framework and documents,

• Designed committee and board reporting, and

• Supported immediate and long-term compliance.

Outcome

The Water Solutions initiative was successfully established as a commercially sound and strategically aligned program that strengthens MIL’s financial resilience and supports water availability for its irrigation community. The governance, risk, and compliance structures developed position the initiative for sustainable operation and ongoing contribution to MIL’s broader strategic objectives.
